Have been in PA for nearly 30 years. Only 1 change in comp after complaining. As a staff, good luck with that
You’re a staff, you have no leverage and you haven’t had an opportunity to truly differentiate your performance. Trying to argue comp now will only serve to brand you as whiny millennial. If a few extra thousand a year makes a difference to you, you’re better off jumping firms. Long term though, jumping can hurt you if you’re sacrificing a developed internal brand for the salary gain.
The only instances I’ve seen people successfully negotiate for adjustments (without moving / transferring service lines) have been highly valuable managers / sr managers lifers in groups that poached peers from other firms at much higher salaries.
You can’t negotiate anything as a staff.
A) we don’t have ratings any more
B) comp conversation is too late in the process to make a change, unless you are vocalizing that you are resigning then in my experience they cannot change anything since the decision is already made. But lay the groundwork for next year
