I pivoted out of healthcare Pharma. The key is I did it through an agency. I came in as freelance & they hired me after a year. However, this was also in a healthy job market. I was burnt out & it was toxic. Always, keep in touch with recruiters as well. I didn’t know how to act coming in at 9. No meetings until 10. 4:30 everyone saying goodnight, Years later I found out I had 40 fibroids due to stress from the job, I was also anemic.
Do you have any PM recruiter recos you can provide? Please? 🙂

Wishing you all the best. I've overseen PM teams in many agencies for 20+ yrs. Pound-for-Pound Healthcare PMs are among the best because of the requirements of the regulated industry/data, multi-channel nature, mixed B2C & B2B audiences, massive pressure/budgets/moving parts of brand launches. Good luck!
I actually find myself in the opposite boat. Have been thinking about transitioning into Healthcare (as a Director) and have been curious if the transition happens that often or not. I can say the burnout happens on both side of the spectrum, so I don’t think it’s a healthcare va non healthcare issue. It’s just the industry as a whole, especially working for agencies.
I’m curious to know too since I want to transition out of pharma advertising!
I’m also in the exact same boat and would also love transition out of the role and industry as well. If anyone has any advice or actionable advice for how to transition into operations, it would be greatly appreciated.
I used to work on Pharma accounts in Agencies. Pivoted to financial services project management. Both are heavily regulated so you likely have the cross applicable skills there.
Yup! I applied to different agencies, especially within the consulting + digital transformation space. From there I went strategy/tech, the made my way into CPG/automotive.
It's not a linear path, I would just tailor your resume to a job posting that interests you in a similar field/industry and try to make a jump from there. It might take you 2-3 moves to do so, but it'll take less than a decade :)
