That kind of a u-turn?
Woahhhh! I would love to chat with you
Yep taken several and just going through one, let me know if you want to chat
Messaged you
It’s a valid point but unfortunately how the system works
System works like that but no need of MBA unless you meet the connections there is the gamble being taken etc
Nope, no one has taken a U turn in my own career so far
10 years as a provider in healthcare in a niche subspecialty at two different hospitals —> MBA —> strategy consulting —> internal strategy at a sports team (started at 36 y-o).
I don’t know that a subpar MBA helps that much in this market, if that makes you feel better lol
If you don’t want to go through MBA then your best bet is networking into strategy / S&O / strategy adjacent roles in Deloitte OR applying to transformation / non-strategy roles in your target firms (that you have more directly relevant experience in) then figuring out how to bridge once you’re there (you should do your homework to see how feasible that is depending on the firm).
Right, so if you want to get into MBB you are likely shooting for top tier MBAs. Or the other things I mentioned.
Yes, basically 'career' is all made up as a term so just have fun with it/don't think to get back on the train or not - think about what you really wanna do. If career is such, cool, else, f it and have a great life doing anything else :)
Yes ! 10+ yoe in military and doing a top European MBA. Got ghosted a lot for internship applications but managed to land a nice job post mba.
It is tough. Best of luck to you
You’re doing something like tech consulting or risk consulting? But want to switch to strategy consulting?
Tbh with AI coming I think strategy consulting is not as good place to be. Better to be a specialist and double down on your existing skill set
Yes, and few times. Fashion industry to PM for defense weapons to IT implementation to management consulting with Booz Allen, PwC, Northrop Grumman and a few small business. I mastered the pivot.
