What salary should I expect as a tax technology consultant entry level at Deloitte? — CSG group —
I know salaries are based on work location. I need some guidance please. I will add that I have one year experience as a former tax associate at PwC and I completed my Master two months ago. No CPA yet. Deloitte

Strategy& fish - i’m currently recruiting for org strategy. Ive talked to associates (in the healthcare practice) and theyve mentioned that it doesnt matter whether youre in corp strategy, org strategy, etc and that you’re pretty much pooled by industry when it comes to staffing.
Can someone confirm this? Also, what do you expect the restructuring to look like?

Is there a faster career growth at the new firm?
Is the new area in higher demand or more interesting to you?
Is it more prestigious (ex D or PwC vs KPMG or EY)?
Do you like the people better?
Where are you on the pay scale at the new firm? Will you still get raises if it takes you a couple year to get promoted?
It all depends what you want to do long term. I say go for it if you aren’t going to be maxed out at the new firm.
I am concerned about “going back” in my career with this move
I think it’s a good move because at manager you won’t have the sales targets you will at SM. It will give you a year or two to get adjusted, and if you knock it out of the park things could happen even sooner. If the name and prestige are a step up and pay is the same, how is it a step back? What’s in a name?
Thanks. Name, prestige and total comp are the same. The new role provides better exit opps(VP IT industry), as opposed to just sticking to SAP implementations
Since you are even considering it (lower grade, same comp) tells me you are not happy at your current firm. What are the issues you are facing, can you work through those or are you at a breaking point. Those are the points that will help you decide.
Just based on the facts given here, it’s a no brained as a “No”.
Thinking longer term. I think M&A work has better exit opps. in general plus I will get to learn something new. Sick of implementing SAP for large orgs. Don’t get me wrong, leading large SAP transformations is not easy and is a valued skill set, but I am just getting sick of it
Moving from SAP specialty towards integrating tech landscapes sounds like a clever move to me
D often levels down if they don’t think you have the experience required to execute in that lateral role, because in certain practices the lateral role at D can often be much more mature (and/or demanding) than the same role in other B4. Leveling down should come with agreement on shortened path to promotion if you can quickly prove you are fully capable.
Going from SM or Director at smaller or less established firms to M at Big 4 is fair and pretty typical. If you’re truly SM material, you’ll make SM in 1-2 years via early promotion. Brand name goes a long way.
I am currently at a Big 4. The move will be lateral from a brand name perspective
