yes. i have. and i make sure to never double back and apologize for it.
as much as we are expected to own our decisions and our strategy, our teams growth and performance; we are also expected to be create an environment on behalf of the company where our employees can bring their full selves to work. that applies to you as well.
i don’t let it occur often, but when it has unexpectedly, i hold my head higher than normal and remind myself that it takes profound strength to be a strong AND sensitive leader. you’re bada$$. own it!
Thank you for this!! I’ve cried to my bosses and the good one who confirmed she was great was when she never made me feel bad about the tears and the space felt safe for emotions when it’s overwhelming
It reminds me of the Barbie movie where one of the Barbie’s says “I can hold logic AND emotion”
Yes, in front of a few bosses. We’re human, so are they - sometimes it’s OK to be a little vulnerable, it shows you care. And how you pick yourself back up and carry on shows resilience.
Oh no I just did this today and felt so embarrassed! He was graceful, but I’m not looking forward to tomorrow :(
Yes. In front of our CPO.
yes and i hate when it happens! i’m a mad crier unfortunately and it gets so embarrassing when i’m trying to hold back the tears
Yes. And my male boss was extremely understanding and acknowledged that emotions happen you care deeply about what you do.
Yes once- and I was sure to tell him it was tears of anger over the way he treated me and my team. I don’t cry for much but confronting him for his terrible actions and behaviors was just too much and quite frankly likely gave the discussion a stronger impact.
Don’t apologize for it, like others have said while it can feel embarrassing we’re all human.
