Yes I have. Both as an interviewer and interviewee
Feels extreme and rude to stop mid chat. But mid process certainly.
I’ve always finished the interview, and then in an email explained why I won’t be going to the next stage. Buys time to actually think it through
Rising Star
You mean the actual chat not the process right? How do you do that? Just hang up?
I have: “hey, I’m so sorry, you guys sound great but this role doesn’t seem like a great fit for me and I don’t want to waste any more of your time. Best of luck in your search!”
Not mid-talk but mid-process I have. No one wants their time wasted.
Rising Star
Their loss. Closed-minded dopes.
I have: “Sorry I can’t hear you clearly. You’re cutting off. Hello? x10” Hang up.
Seems crazy to cut off mid convo but maybe just me
Yes. I’ve stopped interviews/turned down CCO roles that reported to the CMO or CTO. I’ve turned down ECD roles that reported to the CSD. I stopped an interview once when they wanted me to report and work under the Strategy Lead. Any role that marginalizes creative leadership I want NOTHING to do with and it’s a waste of time to keep talking.
You can end an interview politely by saying “thanks but I don’t feel this aligns with where I want to take my career”. It’s not like you’re saying STFU MOFO I’M DONE HERE. 😂
