Have you guys noticed that the 2020-2022 associates dress in expensive, gorgeous designer clothing and accessories daily? When I was a junior 20 years ago, juniors were raggedy AF we mostly had wrinkled suits & cheap shoes and dressed up only for client meetings. These new associates looking like models everyday to come in to do some diligence. Is it just my firm or what is going on? Are they taking selfies at their desk and acting like Cece Xie?? Do they not have loans?

I have not noticed this at all. But regardless, personally, I dressed up way more as a junior because it was exciting! I was poor and I had money to buy nicer clothes for the first time, was working in a fancy office for the first time. Now the excitement has long ago worn off and I dress like a comfortable slob. Let them have their fun.

I don’t have an all designer wardrobe at all, but I do like designer shoes. To the extent I show up in Chanel everyday it’s the same 2 pairs of shoes on rotation. I’d rather spend a lot on one thing I love feel good in it and re-wear over and over, so I buy 1-2 pairs of designer shoes every other year or so. It doesn’t break the bank. The rest of my wardrobe is Zara.

I think more associates have prior work experience (fewer kjds) and more money saved than in prior generations. Also designer resale (real real, posh) makes it easier to buy designer clothes for leas

I can’t for the life of me understand why anyone would care if a big law associate is spending on nice clothes. I personally don’t spend much on clothes, but I’d find it weird if someone commented about me spending excessively (relative) on some other things I enjoy.

Side note: really weird that people making top dollar feel the need to pretend otherwise. You’re more frugal? Good for you. You’re not? Good for you. Keep your eyes on your own pockets

Not as applicable in reasonable housing markets (Houston, Chicago), but in the insane ones, luxury goods are attainable and make you feel like you’ve “made it” where other more traditional markers of success, like owning a nice home, feel far out of reach. And the delta between home ownership and luxury goods is getting higher and higher: it’s not like you would have been able to afford that down payment if not for those pesky handbags.

Has anyone here used the "Read Scripture" app? It goes through the entire Bible and includes accompanying summary videos from "The Bible Project" (whose videos can also be found on YouTube). I love how it groups portions of Scripture and the videos are helpful for making meaningful connections with the text. I love these for myself, but they're super kid-friendly, too. Excellent support for your daily study. Enjoy!

I see this question about how to display side projects often, so putting this out there for anyone who might find it useful:

There’s no such thing as side projects, in my eyes. Every project is an opportunity to display your creativity, and the few you’re most proud of make it to your book. Generally, the consensus these days is that we want our advertising to not look/feel like advertising. So, why should you be concerned to separate what was and wasn’t “advertising?”

The hostility on my team is rough. We have a yeller. I walked by her room the other day. She was screaming across the room at a student, "you have to be kind to get kindness." Seriously, those were her words in a loud, berating, angry tone. Our admin has asked that we not report these. We are to talk to the teacher. She has yelled at me and other adults. Admin has to know she treats the kids this way too. One teacher has to work with her door closed to not hear the yelling all day.

Hi All,can you please let me give me some idea about the following things:

1. what kind of technologies are used in Data Engineering projects in ANZ? Do they work with open source frameworks like Pandas, Pyspark etc. Or everything is done using their internal tools?

3. How is the work-life balance and job security for people working in India office?

Thanks in advance.
