You usually can’t tell this before it happens just by googling it. Your company will give you 60 days notice that you are being laid off. You know when you know. Then you work 60 more days, or, what is more likely, you get paid for 60 more days without working. That’s the way it works. It’s not a public service announcement.

That's right. It comes out when the actual layoffs happen. At Kaiser when you're laid off you get paid for 60 days and only have to come in to work if they ask you too. Your severance starts after that.
I had no idea this was a thing! More people need to know about this. Where do they have to post the notice?
i could be wrong, but I think that they only have to report if the layoff amount is a certain amount of employees being let go
I just got laid off from my job with zero notice. Walked in to find out our office was being closed. Only a few of us in that office were let go while the others sent home to work remotely. The company also let a few people from other areas of the country but I’m not sure how many in total. I‘m guessing the law varies from state to state
