Bowl Leader
I’d recommend you create multiple resumes and focus each resume on the type of role you are trying to get. Before applying for a job, scope that resume specifically for that job. Pay attention to the job descriptions man. Try and make your resume that in depth.
Also take a look at “solution owner” type roles. Our Slalom friend that replied to you may know of some openings. Oh, and make sure if you did any type of cloud work (even SF SaaS, get that on there).
Good luck!
Ahh gotcha. Will look into those
Why stay in consulting, in a less technical role ? I would really hone your technical skills before you completely lose them. There is a massive drought of technical talent. You can make much more leaving consulting and going into a hands on technical role. Do that for a few years and then do whatever you want. Pick up cloud skills. Over 6 months I busted my ass learning everything about AWS and getting certified. Left consulting for nearly a 100% raise in TC.
C2, what role were you able to secure once you exited consulting?
Maybe come work for a smaller and fun and local consulting company like Slalom.
Everything is local these days
I can tell English is not your first language - make sure your resume / LinkedIn doesn’t have the same issue.
You’re probably fine, but I would find someone you trust and ask them point blank if there’s a development point here. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve had ESL colleagues who get “learn more tech” feedback instead of “work on your written communication”. It’s a touchy subject that many are afraid will come off as racist, when at the end of the day it’s all about comfort of whether I can trust you can to gather requirements and articulate them in a useful way.
I have exactly the same YOE in project management and scrum master roles. I just switched took a job at a different firm for a 30% raise SPECIFICALLY for my pm experience.
Project management is a great skill set to have. When I turned my linkedIn on, I got multiple offers or opportunities a month.
Are you sure you are marketing yourself right?
I think I’m partly struggling with that as well
So many are in the same boat. Similar experience as you but unsure what to do past consulting..
Create separate resumes for each type of role to present yourself as specialist for that role and not a generalist. Where applicable, mention hands on experience.
All the best
Sounds good. I will make my resume more tailored to each role
