Either. You do learn overtime. My advice is to not get acossiates degree. It is to get certified. You can do that less then u can a class. Www.aapc.com is where u get your certification. 10yrs ezperience in this fiekd now I am a dme manager billing specialist. Lroblem is employers only want to pay $15 an hour for this knowlegde and its alot of work.
I have found that most people learn the majority of it over time. It helps if you have some sort of base line knowledge or have taken a basic anatomy course. But even if you haven't its something you will definitely learn as time goes on. Google is your friend haha.
You definitely need knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy even as a new coder. Most coding jobs are remote.
