Hello Scrummasters I'm looking into getting a ScrumMaster certification. Do you have any advice on the best way to do it? I see the three options listed below.

Please share your experience with any of these or any advice in general with costs, the exams or anything in general that was helpful to you as a newly certified SrumMaster. Thank you in advance!

1. Professional Scrum Master™ I (PSM I) through srum com
2. Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM) through ScrumAlliance
3. Scrum Master by Scrum Inc.™

My official role on my team is a UX Designer, however I did get my CSM from scrum alliance. On their website they have a list of trainers and courses that you can pick from. If you feel comfortable with your knowledge of Agile and scrum you can just purchase the exam ($100-$150). If you take a course with them it is 2 days and the prices are set by the trainers ($400-$800).

Overall my experience was okay, they preach purist scrum and agile, you just need to know all of that for the test. There is no team that follows Agile/scrum 100% nor should there be.

I recommend in person Scrum Master class through a certified scrum teacher for Scrum Alliance. The hands on exercises and having a solid instructor over those two days matters. That training combined with an agile mindset and some great interpersonal skills will make you an effective SM.

I am a CSM through Scrum Alliance. Registered for in person weekend course through Scrum Alliance sight and took the test after. It was good enough for me. It is helpful in my role as I provide guidance to PMs and teams that I manage.

Scrum Alliance is the gold standard, used by all of Fortune 100 companies in their training universities. Check your company training department if they offer the courses for free. The certification is somewhat hard in that it isn’t common sense but passable if you study hard. Take the practice tests and do not go for the actual test until you consistently score at 90%. The practice tests are available to you for two weeks after you finish the training portion.

We just filled two SM and one RTE positions. The range was 115-168k depending on experience.

For the people who earned the SHRM-CP, did you feel it was worth it? I have an indirect HR position, been applying for more HR focused positions and wondering if this would help. I got the CAPM (certified associate of project management) in December, but that hasn’t really changed things. Would love some opinions before working on another certification!

So, I've realised there's a problem with developers, a lot of them are coders, not engineers. And another issue, is that, companies don't really care about their progression as far as I'm aware, so what did you guys do in your own time to transition from being a coder to an engineer?

I interviewed with a company last week and the interviewer said he would submit my notes to the hiring manager and I would hear back this Monday from HR on next steps/if they want to move forward. I didn’t hear back yesterday so I emailed HR and she said she wasn’t part of the hiring decision so would reach out to the initial interviewer for his feedback. I haven’t heard from her and it’s been 24 hours - starting to get worried. What should I do? Does this mean they’re not interested?
