If I know I am making more than what the job I am interviewing for would most likely offer, what should I say if the recruiter asks what my target comp is? Realistically I’d take a pay cut to join this firm, but don’t want to outwardly say that upfront. Thoughts? Talking ~20-30k difference

Unemployment has run out and I’m starting to crumble under the pressure of bills. My experience the past 6yrs has been in smaller companies where my role was never just one thing but instead spread over multiple departments, so I’m struggling to narrow down how to convey the vast experience I do have.

Full round of interviews completed. No major pay hike but still happy to switch. However for 3 weeks it’s been radio silence. Wrote to recruiter two weeks ago and recruiter said they were interviewing other candidates and there’s no result yet. Should I; a) write to HM directly and inquire? b) write to HM and ask to be considered for other roles he had that I was a potential with? c) sit tight?

Thinking of hiring a birthing Doula. Just talked her one last week. She would hold two 1.5 hr sessions pre-birth, one post-birth, and then be present through the whole labor and delivery.

For that I was quoted $1600. that doesn’t seem outrageous to me except that the price stays the same even if I end up needing a scheduled C-section. In that case it feels like I get way less for my money since I won’t need anyone to help me through labor.

What are examples of “non-billable” tasks that attorneys are completing? Backstory: I’ve seen firm softwares advertise their products saying, “You can’t bill for these tasks so you should have our software do it.” The task would be something like drafting a financial statement that is filed with the court.
