You're not wrong for feeling undermined or thinking it sends a bad message. But I'm also not sure what you can do if your director and director of marketing have both spoken. This type of stuff is so annoying in part because it feels so unnecessary! Hoping the best for you.
Have they explained the rational behind this process? Based on your post it sounds like the marketing team is signing off on your release, am I understanding that correctly? If so, I would just throw it out there as a delay in release to users so you’re wanting to understand the rationale here. Pose it as you’ve never had to do this before so you’re wanting to understand how it benefits the organization or the end user.

Is this temporary or forever? I could see in the beginning as you ramp up maybe having sign off on things makes sense but agreed that seems over the top. However it can always help to understand why they want to do that and see what you can do to minimize the need for it ie include them very early on in planning so there’s no last minute sign off. Maybe they have historically been excluded and this is them being defensive.
