McKinsey & Company Any advice to help prepare for data science analyst role at top consulting firms (McKinsey & Company EY Boston Consulting Group etc)? Any materials, open source platform recommended to take on freelance data science project? When should I start actively looking and applying? I am a new grad who is working in tech as a marketing analyst I’m looking to pivot to marketing& sales data science consulting next year. Would like someone with similar backgrounds offer some practical tips.
Please evaluate this initial offer for Apple ICT3. I think I was low balled, but I want to take more opinions. Currently Sr. MTS at VMware, received Apple ICT3. I was expecting to get to ICT4 but seems like team thinks upper end of ICT3 is more apt. Also, I think it is because I don’t have any counter offers yet.

Data science should absolutely be able to translate. I would focus on roles like that. The overall benefits and package you will get in big tech will be higher and better and the workload may be more manageable. You may also want to take the SWE track if you feel very confident in it and have some ways to beef that up on your resume. It's more lucrative, but there is more competition in terms of talent.
Appreciate the insight. Would a lateral hire into the data science space make sense/what would that role/comp generally look like coming in as a senior? Would like to not take a demotion if possible especially given my strong tech background. I can see myself doing swe for a few more years but ultimately don’t want to do it forever which is why I’ve been focusing on data science (plus I also just find it more enjoyable with less likelihood of early burnout compared to coding).
Its super varied, getting into S&O / Product is quite difficult. Im in BizOps and there’s tons of roles going at the moment. Are you willing to relocate + have additional languages that you speak? Thats a massive help to land an offer IMO.
Also hybrid is definitely becoming normal - also fully remote (you can find plenty of articles online for the big companies)

If you want to make a jump...the move to FAANG is probably too big if you want to do tech work. The experience you get at big 4 is nowhere near what we look for. You may want to do a stint at a more traditional software engineering shop before applying to faang
Also you can find lots of info online about he to prepare for coding interviews with faang
Is this the new exodus? Seeing lot of consulting fishes dropping billing hours, to join a FAANG type company.
I personally just want to do more tech work rather than tech work plus the overhead that comes with consulting (consultant jargon, ppt reviews, etc). Personally I always knew I’d do big tech just tried consulting after college due to a really competitive offer and a genuine interest to explore different industries/careers.
What about sales/customer engineering? Are you client facing right now?
Following. I used to be a CS grad/software dev but then I joined cybersec/PAM practice and I feel like I don’t have the credentials, nor desire tbh, to be a code monkey anymore. But would maybe like to exit to FAANG at some point at a role that can exceed what I make in consulting (which to be fair is a lot)
