I'm quite sure we understand that it was not a United stewardess or pilot beating a passenger out cold and dragging him out. It's absolutely astounding that your supposedly educated self is so presumptuous.
"Hello police? Yeah this is United. We have a paying customer that we randomly bumped from a flight due to our own mistake. Yes, we'd like you to remove him. No, we haven't contacted our PR people because we don't give a damn. You'll throw him off the plane? Oh you guys are the best. Thank you!"
So United bears no responsibility?
This is true. BUT - the fact is that this happened on a United plane, and due to decisions they made. The whole situation could have been avoided with better communication and planning.
Its the fact that they are kicking off people that have paid for their seats and unwilling to leave for standby employees
United absolutely bears responsibility for what happened to that man
Correct, but a united manager allowed this to happened. Plus this could have been handled by the gate in the waiting area. You don't wait until everyone is seated and then force people off
EY you're dumb, this was all Uniteds decision, on United metal, with a United passenger. United mis-managed this situation. Look at times - United had a flight after this to Louisville later last night (full, but could have better managed a later volunteer process). American operated a direct on the same route that was also later last night that they could have put their crew on.
Thank you EY
absolutely astounding that people who are supposed to be educated professionals don't understand this distinction
Makes you wonder what United told the police, doesn't it? I'm guessing they skipped over the finer details and went with "unruly passenger won't leave plane". True in essence but not really honest.
Nope this one is totally United's fault. I don't care about whatever definition of "unruly passengers" you want to dig for. The man paid for a service and was denied the service so that United employees weren't inconvenienced. Also I'd bet the security guards have been waiting for the day they could fuck someone up for some time now
C1: "The duty of a common carrier of passengers to exercise the requisite degree of care for those it undertakes to transport upon its facilities is nondelegable, so that a passenger who sustains injuries because of the fact that such degree of care was not exercised is entitled to hold the carrier responsible, notwithstanding the injuries were directly attributable to the negligence of an independent contractor."
Kinda hard to do a two-man lift down the tiny aisle of an aircraft, especially if the person you are carrying is dead weight. The cops did what cops do, and they did it lawfully. United could've de-escalated quite easily before involving the folks with clubs and guns. United deserves the blame here, police officers aren't in customer service and don't have any vouchers / points to give out
The OP's comment implies that United handled the situation correctly. I disagree, and the non-apology by the CEO confirms that their actions reflect their leadership.
look at what did their CEO say about this? Even disgusting! No real response! Trash! The attitude, the way of treating a customer, a senior,a doctor, or any HUMAN BEING!
C2- please leave this thread. You are now trespassing this thread. BAM 💥 in da face!
United... Chicago... bears... cubs... ahhh I got nothing!
Hey geniuses: you're idiots
Wait, I'm with OP on this. United didn't assault this man. The police used excessive force. I don't think United was imagining that the way the police would remove a passenger was by smashing their head against a seat so they were unconscious and then dragging their body off. United was probably imagining that this guy would comply once the police showed up, or that they'd lift him off the seat by the armpits and escort him down the aisle. I'm not saying I agree with United's decision leading up to this, but the appalling video of this guy being beaten and dragged is on the cops.
