Start at a smaller company to build a track record would be my first suggestion. Have the courage to build your career rather than taking a huge first leap for prestige. My father always told me: “Prestige doesn’t put food on the table.”

Def would second start small. My company burns salespeople out all the time with their numbers. I honestly think that the sales guys rely on existing sales networks they established before coming to my company. It's the only logical way to do it vs cold calling or dropping by. But I'm in big IT where the smallest contracts are in the hundreds of thousands.

Is ghosting job candidates the new norm? You go through extensive, multistep interview processes with many people, have an in person interview and then never hear back from the HR.

How do you set personal boundaries? One of my colleague is new to the team, so I understand she may be struggling at times to get up to speed. How do you guys find time to apply, and prepare for interviews for exit opportunities? I find it very difficult to switch my mind’s frame of reference from work to prep, and also finding time for interviews/prep is very anxiety inducing (random pings during interviews, faking sickness, general mental health) not to mention interview nerves. TIA for any pointers!

Yale SOM invitation already? Submitted 3 days ago, just wow. Any advice on prepping? This is my first interview, and I just absolutely bombed the video essay pretty much stammering through and repeating myself the entire time, so really wasn't expecting this... For the record they do rolling, so no need to fret or anything if you yet to receive an invitation.

I had a lot of meetings/interviews with a service line and office I was thinking of transferring. The last time I had a call with a partner was two Fridays ago (10 days). And they told me they’ll discuss and let me know in the next week. I sent a follow up email after my meeting. But haven’t heard anything back. Is it a bad sign? Or should I try reaching out again?

I would appreciate any tips on training a paralegal/assistant while managing a heavy (Zoom) court and meeting schedule. My new assistant’s skill set is more narrow than I realized, and there is a lot to teach. I know training will pay off, but if there are some tried and true shortcuts I would love to hear them. My practice is almost exclusively family law.

I’m in Tax and completing the mandatory GAM WBL. Usually, this course it presented at ETU and can be described as three monotone panelists speaking for two hours without any inflection whatsoever.
