I just wanted to share my honest experience. I moved from India to the UK with almost double the salary, but in reality the higher cost of living here has really affected my standard of living. Expenses are much higher, and I’m not able to save as much as I could back in India.
Because of this, I would strongly suggest not to consider London espe.cially with salary cuts. Australia is way better overall than India, but if I’m already regretting my decision even after getting a pay hike, moving with a pay cut could be even more difficult.
If you mean me, then of course
If there was a 10-15% pay rise included too I’d do it no questions, with a pay cut I’m not so sure unless you have a real urge to explore Europe more, are craving some of the creative industries Australia doesn’t offer much of and are young. Lifestyle is different to Sydney. On £80k you’d be doing well but not amazing if you wanted to live solo. Your survivable costs will be somewhere between £2-3k pcm dependent on lifestyle and your take home around £4.5-5.5k.
I’m guessing your car allowance can be taken as cash? Plus bonus your salary I imagine is more like £90k.
Yes, I was able to negotiate 5% extra. That was when they needed me to keep the client happy, I had the knowledge of client business. I resigned from Accenture India and they offered me Accenture UK to retain me.
With the current situation where they are laying people off I don't think you have enough negotiation power but better ask than not.

I would not do it - this is just not the right time to move to the UK to pursue a career in consulting, let alone with a pay-cut.

100%! I was also pursuing a move to the US, and it’s been really slow and similar feedback.
Stay back in Sydney
Hey mate, I guess coz you work in accenture it’s a role about consulting but previous posters about this work has been interesting. I’ll give you my experience and then ask about yours.
I moved to London back in 2011 under the 2 year working visa. not fortunate to have a transfer as I was working at Telstra so unless I was a guru no way they would sponsor me lol. However I did put a careers leave for 1 year to keep my options opened. essentially moving to London I didn’t have a job and I had to find a place which was one of the hardest things in my life I had to go through - it was extra tough with the job market because I would be going against anyone from the EU since they can apply for jobs in London.
I eventually found a job at Mastercard (after 358 job applications 😬) & found a place at shoredtich which was the best as had bars and cool stuff there. It paid off and I was making friends (mainly Aussies also doing the working and travelling thing lol) and jet setting all around Europe on weekends when I could because it was so cheap - going to say Paris for a weekend compared to what Sydney to Melbourne for a weekend 😅). I enjoyed my time in London that I quit my job at Telstra and did another year. Time flew by and after doing 50 cities around Europe I had to pack my bags and sadly come back to Aus. I certainly had withdrawal symptoms and had to adjust back to Sydney lifestyle.
Fast forward today and it appears stuff has gone downhill in London with crime etc which is sad to hear. In saying that I have a friend that just recently moved to London and she seems to be having the time of her life when I see all this stuff from her instagram lol. In hindsight depending on how long you going to be in London for I reckon just do it for the experience - worst case you can go back to Sydney right?
I don’t know consulting but with you earning 80k gbp, i think that sounds ok. although it’s the tax that gets you. Plus assume you get a bonus on too?
10k USD relocation - this seems a lot? What’s this income just shipping your home stuff what you want to London? im prettt sure you can get away with doing it for 10k aud then keep the rest to yourself haha
6k gbp car allowance - as per my previous comment what’s this for? For you to drive to clients? I only drove once in London with friends and that was driving to that tourist place west side (totally forgot the place) but yeah was just using the London tube to get around as it’s the best
Anyhow hope this kinda helps - I reckon take the opportunity , unless your married and have kids , this is a once of a lifetime opportunity. Yes there will be negatives but need to look for the positives which I hope will outweigh the negatives. Worst case if you really don’t like it then ask to transfer back to Sydney (do you have that option)?
Don’t do it London is miserable and grey and expensive
I moved from the UK to Oz, where I worked for six years, before moving back to the UK. Apart from what’s already been said, the UK consulting market is currently very depressed. It’s very tough going atm. Add to this the facts that Accenture’s UK practice is still very much in the early stages of a turnaround, plus it’s a notoriously brutal place, and the risk should be obvious.
Think carefully about why you want to move. I personally think there are better options.

Not a strategic location for consulting. Not the main office and too far from London. No matter what many one says about the UK, London is still the best part of it
Yes they just confirmed car allowance and location bonus is just cash so yes the salary is a little higher in the first year.
What’s the deal with car allowance? Do you need a car to drive to clients or something even though you moving to London office?

How many years of work experience do you have? You could potentially negotiate on this
A lot more. I’m an experienced hire and Australia has an extra level compared to UK so I got screwed over because UK is treating me as a fresh manager. I have 10 years of work experience
I’m also thinking of moving and applying for other roles in the background
