I have worked as a speech language pathologist at the schools and an outpatient pediatric therapy clinic for the past 5 years. I am looking to transition to the medical setting (inpatient/acute care), however, as I do not have any medical experience (either from graduate or post-grad), I am finding it difficult to get my foot in the door. Any advice?

I am currently a medical biller and coder that just graduated. I am currently in an entry level position because I am still studying to get certified. I will have a year's work of exp in July and will sign a contract for another year because my boss is training me in more I don't know.

I'm wondering what the pay is for someone in my position without certification. I live with family and want to afford to move out but I am single and only make $18/hr. Is that standard or am I being underpaid?

Is sticking up for yourself even worth it? My boss is always on my ass as if I’m constantly missing, or about to miss, deadlines. I’ve never missed one. I’ve received the same damn lecture/email about monitoring all case deadlines a hundred times. I always just professionally explain that we’re not about to miss any and discuss the progress. Well, I’ve about had it and am ready to go off. I’m sick of basically being told that I’m not doing my job. How should I address this issue?

I’m a newly graduate from a community college. My program of study was Health Information Technician. I passed my RHIT exam a month ago, and I’ve been applying to jobs in state, out of state, and remotely to only receive “sorry you were not selected email.”I don’t have experience and I know that’s the reason I’m not getting selected. Tips for my first defense trial? Med mal/wrongful death case. I’ll be examining our two medical experts and crossing many of Plaintiff’s. I keep starting huge projects or hobbies and being intensely into it for about 10 days/2 weeks, after which I forget about it and the project just lays around my house for months until I get interested in it again or I toss it out/donate it. It was fine when I was living alone but my partner is seriously frustrated with how messy the house gets and how much I spend on supplies for these things. 2015- 3.4 LPA(started as a fresher)

Is it just me or are there entirely too many people in Business Services, specifically TC’s, who are just folks from client service that don’t want to deal with hours and travel anymore but have no formal training in the Business Services function they transition to? It seems to me very few TC’s are professionals in HR with any background, training or certifications in HR.

I don’t know about the rest of you but I don’t have enough room in my home for a full blown professional “looking” office. If these companies want to start chipping in on remodel expenses, I am listening. Otherwise, don’t worry about my kitchen table and kids running around the house. That’s what kids do!

Snf vs rehab vs LTAC /// I make 37 in SNF full time, PRN rate is 48/50 per hr. I was offered LTAC position for 30 per hour with 1 year more experience than starting! I feel like I’m drowning because I’m supporting myself and hubby on my salary.

We as a community need to stick together to make the value of SLPs known. When I was just starting in the field for my CFY I was offered $31/hr for a job in an SNF (in 2018). At this time I was fresh out of college and did not know what pay to expect because no one talks about it. - I did not take the job due to it being a little over an hour from my home but later learned that was not a good rate. I currently still feel as if I am underpaid. Add your city, state, setting, pay, etc

I have my annual review next week. Starting my 7th year at the current job. 13+ years in the field. But my current company is a nonprofit. They are great. But annual raise has always been 2%. So as a tenured SLP, I feel quite underpaid. But I honestly don’t know what is fair - especially for the region (Midwest) and in my speciality (pediatric outpatient rehab). So glad to have found this app. I think that by using this to communicate, we, SLPs can definitely use this app to negotiate and make people recognize our value. I was once an underpaid clinical fellow and looking back, I wish I had more detailed information on compensation and salary. ASHA’s national survey and averages were minimally helpful when local rates across settings can vary so much.

I am currently working as an SLPA in CA making 30 an hour. I am applying to grad school and will be in debt 70,000 after the completion of the program. Does anyone know of any companies willing to pay for grad school if you sign a contract with them?
