They don't care about you getting fired unless it's because you sold company secrets for cash to pay for hookers & blow. People have all kinds of stuff in their background from DUIs to drugs in college. Don't have an uncle in a terrorist group. Don't have a habit/string of of bad risky behavior. Don't sell company stuff for cash. Don't have a discord or dark web account where you have no filter in what you talk about. Simple.
If you don't get the clearance, that's fine. You won't get on federal projects and likely be switched and submitted to commercial. D takes into account that not everyone will pass. Public Trust is basic. But having a clearance, especially extra points for Secret or Top is really helpful in job security on the federal side.
I had Public Trust on a project, then Secret for the next one and then moved to commercial for the next next one easy peasy still. You are free to do as you please, but having a clearance will open up more federal opportunities for you.
Thank you, that was very relieving to hear. Do you know if having the interim does anything?
Why were you fired?
For performance. I honestly just struggled at the job. Not trying to excuse my actions, but it was a terrible fit though and it was completely different than what I expected. I have had two internships with fortune 500 companies and a full time role with a fortune 500 company with no problems. I disclosed that I got fired for that reason on my form though.
You need to proactively disclose on the paperwork and be upfront with any investigator. With honesty, they’ll overlook a lot. A lot. I have a friend who was caught with LSD in college. Got a TS a decade later with clean living and being forthright.
