Work travel is disruptive to most lifestyles so employers pay a premium for that precisely because it interferes with an employee’s work/life balance. 85k definitely seems low for a managerial role that requires that much travel, 105k sounds much more reasonable.
Even $105k is low for a Java get role with travel. In my experience travel = no personal life.
That salary is way too low.
Thanks for you honest feedback!
Hi,
I was an HR manager for Cintas for four years from 2016 until 2019. There are many good things and bad things about Cintas.
So let me begin with a good. The best things about Cintas is that you will definitely get work life balance. They usually do not expect you to work more than 40 hours. Their benefits are one of the best I’ve seen, especially medical insurance. I still have my 401(k) account with the Cintas company stock in it. You also get tons of experience in the HR industry, especially if you are newer HR and want to get a lot of exposure to different types of HR activities.
Here are the bad things. Their salaries are one of the lowest in the industries, so I’m not shocked about the low pay. Also the premium for travel. They only pay you for car mileage and the cents per mile are one of the lowest I’ve ever seen. Many positions in Cintas offer bonuses but they do not offer HR managers or office managers any bonuses.
They do offer annual increases, but those annual increases are not 5%. They’re usually around 3%. That also depends on where you fall on the salary quartile. If you are towards the end of the fourth quartile, then you can also go without an annual increase. With a salary range above 80,000 you are more than likely in the fourth quartile and probably will not get any more increases after the first or second year. it all depends on your boss.
A number of companies don't want to pay that well, unfortunately. On the plus side, it is part of the fortune 500 companies.
So what did they say about work-life balance? Is working regular 40-hour weeks typical, or do they expect you to work overtime regularly? How flexible the role is would ultimately make or break the decision. These are all things I hope you asked about as nobody else will be able to answer your questions
Get as much info as possible on benefits, and if they can't go higher on salary, see if they can give you more PTO, a sign on bonus, discount on insurance, etc. Then go from there to compare if it sounds better than your most recent role.
85k is incredibly low. Especially for all the travel you would be required to do. $105k is also very low for the type of work. I am a resource management Sr specialist and I make $110k. You should be making at least $130k as a manager.
YW. Try applying to a global company/firm. You deserve to be paid well even if you live in Tennessee
