Thought this was interesting. Across 160 teams of researchers, just about all failed to make good life outcome predictions on things like GPA, evictions, layoffs, and others. Data followed 4.5k families across 15 years, with 13k features (varied over time). Haven't looked at it directly yet, but will be turning the docs and data inside out... In the meantime, authors claim this as showing the limits of ML. Oh, and it's published in PNAS, so you know there's some big publication energy there.

Hi, I'm leaving Citi in 2 months. It's hard to make this decision. I have an offer from a small startup. In citi, my previous experience was not considered and was reskilled to different tech which is the reason for change.I don't like to exit citi. As I like the company so much. But considering my current knowledge,I am in the middle of the sea.I am afraid now that the new company's offer would be revoked due to this recession?Or can I take back my resignation in citi before the last working day.Is this wise decision?

Hello fishes, need some guidance on the following questions - How is cognizant doing currently? Is it safe to join cognizant? How about the attrition rate, any improvement? How about job security? Do they layoff? Looking for some serious suggestions. I have a loan on me, and my package is low. And IBM doesn't give any hike. So was looking to switch. But afraid after hearing about current situation of cognizant. I am thinking several times before coming to a conclusion. 🙂 @Cognizant

While I do not have specifics in that field, when I was trying to figure that out for me, I just looked around at job openings in my location. Also making networking and connections to people and can hear what they are seeing. Wishing you the best of luck!
My guess for "in-demand" roles would be anything in programming or leadership. The latter would probably pay more.
The AAA studios are really struggling right now, so I'd advise not looking there for long term goals (but maybe as a springboard, if you have an "in"). There are lots of studios and indie creators out there looking for talent - it's just finding them that's a challenge.
I have worked full time as an artist for over 35 years. My advice would be to try to narrow your focus to what you personally excel at ( modelling?....characters / props / sets / game level planning / lighting / painting and texturing ? ) There are many roles within CG and you need to LOVE your job to stick with it. Download free Blender and start learning for free......that's a great headstart .

I have a degree in CS, focused on visual and game programming. If I were going back and doing it all again I wouldn't get a degree. I would find out what you want to learn about, and then learn and understand it. There are LOTS of online resources nowadays.
