I recently applied for the Data Engineer role at Barclays, and I wanted to understand more about the interview process and rounds. I have 4 years of experience as a DE. Could anyone who has been through it recently share what to expect — such as the type of technical questions, tools or platforms emphasized (e.g., SQL, Python, ETL, Cloud, etc.), and any behavioral or case study rounds?

Is this a toxic trait.. anytime I have an inconvenience, I look for jobs or do I just hate my job. I have applied and received several interviews but when it comes to that point, I back out and decide it’s best to stay. I have an offer for way more money, manager title (which I want), much larger bonus & IVF benefit is better. However, I’m in the middle of stims and it is STRESSFUL. Part of me can’t imagine taking on a new role while I’m in the middle of this. But also feel like I can’t pass it up

Joining a big firm next week as fully remote lateral and flying out to home office for orientation. The schedule has me in office until 4:15. I’ve already been told I won’t have any actual work. Depending on how many people are there and how it feels, I was planning to stay an hour extra but should I hang around the office until later? First time visiting this city so it’d be great to take in some sights too (although that’s not a priority of course).

My company says that they don’t do typical merit increases based on individual performance. Everyone just gets collective cost of living increases every 2-5 years. Is this normal?

Would you stay living in a city you like but have very few friends there, or move back to your hometown where most of your friends and family are? My current city has a population of about 500k and my hometown is about 100k. My main reason to move away from my hometown was dating and jobs, but neither seem to be going any better over the past 2 years. COL is about 28% higher than my hometown and jobs don’t pay much better.

Was talking to this girl ( arranged marriage ) over the past couple of months(jun-sep) and things were progressing towards in the correct direction.

During our inital conversion in the early stages, I had mentioned everything about my status (h1b. with early stages of perm,i-140 stage) and told her how she won't be able to get EAD immediately after coming the US)

All of sudden she said(oct) she now does not want to come to the US as my status does not allow her to work immediately in the US.

About to get about $10k from freelance. I have a full time job so my bills are already covered. Unsure how to split the $10k - got about $3k on credit cards to pay off, but no other debt. Should I throw the rest into savings? Buy some more stock (have a few $100 invested already)? Could do a bit of each of course but as I split it up it feels like less and less and like I'm not going to see substantial growth either way.
