My TC has fluctuated (currently around 135K CAD), but it seems like it's relatively easy to breach the 100K bar, but hard to breach the 150K bar. One of my siblings has a substance abuse problem since their teen years. It’s impacted me and traumatized me deeply. I keep in touch with them regularly because they have small children that I don’t want to be isolated from them in case of a relapse. My sibling thinks I want to have a relationship with them and it triggers me when they say they want to hang out more than what I have boundaries for. I mean I do not care much about money, I am pretty satisfied with the things I can do and things I can buy.

But the thing is our minds work with numbers. I see SDE roles at MAANG or other companies offer higher packages. I feel like I should aim for more in life if people can get paid more at this experience or age.

I need other people's opinions on this.
