The new company I’m at now sent me an email from an email address that was HR@companyName.careers saying I was accepted for the position. They gave me paperwork to fill out and sign to accept the position
I fill out the paperwork and send it back to them and it goes through… then a few days later I go back to the email to say something else and I get this…?
Then today I got a check from the company In the mail to setup my home office, and it’s signed by someone I’ve never met before or heard of…?

Yikes your niece/nephew wants a relationship and your turning that down? Sounds like they’ll be talking about that in therapy.

Nope, I keep consistent communication with my siblings to make sure that the kids are okay. My sibling want to have more 1:1 interaction and it triggers me because the only reason I keep that communication is to for the kids.

Doesn’t really seem fair that you keep in touch with your sibling to watch them, but refuse to have a real relationship with their children. Why can’t you forgive your sibling? Why are you setting boundaries with their children when their children didn’t do anything wrong? Sounds like you have a problem with letting go of the past, and that you’re being unfair to your sibling who seems to have gotten their life back together.

They don’t remember and they don’t want to take responsibility for it. It’s always something bigger that prevents them from taking responsibility. I don’t want to fight anymore because if they relapse, they will tell their case workers how terrible our family is and would rather have the kids in foster care (has happened before).

Tough. I have a sibling that is addicted to substances. Fortunately, she doesn’t have kids yet & hopefully not until she is healthy. My siblings and I have already decided to keep her out of our lives as well as our children’s lives when we do have them.
Ik that has to be a tough situation but there’s nothing wrong with maintaining those boundaries and enforcing them. You are protecting yourself, and it does not make you a bad person.

My sibling had a substance abuse problem for years. She passed away 6 years ago. No advice but I can relate somewhat and know how complicated it must be.

Thank you. I’m sorry for your loss.

Interesting conundrum. I too had a sibling with a substance abuse problem from age 15-36. In that time span they stole and conned me out of nearly $50k, and then another $50k after the last stint in prison where they finally got clean. I don't have any issue speaking to this sibling today as they finally got their crap together and are living a good life.
I also had another sibling growing up and we fought constantly. Broken bones, stitches, bloody noses, etc. I don't have an issue with those one either.
We're all adults. We don't hold onto the past. We're the only family, though not close, we will always be there for each other if needed. Life's to short to fret over things from the past.

You’re a better person than I am. I can’t forget the amount of times my sibling put me in harms way. I understand that they are ill. I just can’t compromise my mental health for them anymore.

8 more years to go
Drinking or pills? Someone I love dearly has been consuming pills and drinking frequently. It’s hard to maintain a healthy relationship with a addict because they continually manipulate and push you away. Yet, we want the best for them and care about their livelihood.
Chief
Hard drugs.
I want the best of them.
Do you live near them? I am assuming you don’t want a relationship with the kids either. Can I ask why? I think setting boundaries is the healthiest thing you can do. I completely understand why it is needed. Just wondering if there is a way for you to build a relationship with kids only. Or do you feel like sibling might take advantage?
