What level? I would say it would make sense to stay at Deloitte at least through senior to gain big4 experience/resume building. Otherwise, it’s probably worth it just know work/life would be relatively the same if not worse and tech is generally a downgrade.
Started at GT and can confirm the technology is a downgrade. Expect less automation and more hands on work.
I left deloitte for GT. Like others have said, the hours are significantly less and the people are much nicer. That said, I do hear people complain on here and I think some offices and service lines are tougher than others.
Which group in tax?
I have a hard time believing GT is competitive with DT pay. If you like where you’re at, let your partner know what your offer was. GT is 15-20% below the B4 market by me.
Annual raises at Deloitte are never great. They give people just enough to stop them from leaving. PWC and EY pay much better
I left B4 for GT a few months ago and have liked it so far. Left at Mgr level. Massive increase in pay and everyone is nicer. Obviously this is going to vary a ton group to group / office to office but those are my two cents.
Shared Service Center in Bangalore
Another vote for being very happy at GT. Bonuses vary with overall firm performance and we are expecting good ones this year.
Is it the case even for good/ high performers? What is the motivation to stay in the firm if you do not have annual bonus or hike
It's a sinking ship if you haven't heard. Almost everyone in my office's starting class left as an S1. For tax, the staff no longer belong to specific teams so they can be taken away from you even when you need them. They care more about associate burnout than senior burnout and it shows.
We had work. A lot of us were working B4 hours without the pay or the prestige. GT just doesn't care if we're understaffed as long as we file on time. It felt like they were constantly picking at us to see how much they can take from us before we crumble, and then keep us there.
Those who are already working at GT, please tell me your likes & dislikes
I’ve only worked at GT, but I think the biggest pro compared to big 4 is we definitely work less in tax. Our billable goals are significantly lower than big 4. That might mean pay is somewhat lower than big 4.
If you quit DT pays for vacation but GT does not, that said GT and EY have UNLIMITED VACATION- when will DT and PWC get the message it’s what we want!!
No to unlimited PTO
I left moss adams for grant Thornton and I love it. People here are real and nice. Hell we have nerf gun fights (pre covid) in the office. People here are chill as hell but are still high performers. Are we the best firm I can’t say. But is this a good firm to go to yeah. I think the complaints are dependent on the office. This is the same at any public accounting firm tbh. Very rarely is turnover not a thing at any public accounting firms. I say come over if you don’t like it bounce again.
I honestly have no idea. I joined like 6 months ago and I’m a senior. Can’t help you there.
I switched from GT after 4 years to Deloitte. In corporate tax at both firms. PM if you want to speak more but I would say it’s highly dependent on your city/office. Overall, D works their people way harder than GT but does pay better in the short and long run. Right now you’re getting a solid pump to jump but that’s every firm always. When I switched to Deloitte I got a 30% bump in the base and 4% sign-on bonus.
