Hi Folks,

What's the cheapest way to transfer money from my US bank account to my Canada bank account. Have to move around 50k usd savings.

I think wire has a daily limit of 5k and also charges ~50 bucks fees per transaction.

I think you can wire much more than $5k for $50. That would be the cheapest option.

Contact canadian banks. Thryll happily provide the info for free

I have wired money from a US chase account to a Canadian account for free (over 5k) or 5$ under 5K. It takes about 24 hours.

It shows you the conversion rate up front before you confirm which seemed reasonable to me but I didn’t shop around to compare other rates.

Check with your US bank what their fees are to wire money to Canada.

Do not use a bank. The fees will be horrible. Just use the Wise app and enjoy the $1000 in saved fees. I've used it for much larger amounts.

For large transfers, Knightsbridge in Toronto will save you thousands on not just fees but also rates. You are welcome.

Hey all! I’m 30 years old. About to close on a house with a 5.75% fixed 30 yr mortgage. If you were me and your goal was to maximize your net worth by retirement, would you put a few thousand dollars extra into paying down the house faster or invest that extra money in the market? The 5.75% doesn’t feel that low but also not crazy high so I’m torn. Thoughts? 🙏
