One of my favorite podcasts did an episode on Adderall. Most of the info won’t be new, but there were some interesting snippets in there. I also thought it was a useful educational resource to share with your family and friends.

I have no suggestions because I teach middle school, but that is a lot. How many paras do you have?
I am struggling with meeting the needs of all of the kids and with knowing how to run the day. For example, circle time. In the multiage situation, I plan and teach whole group activities that are geared toward the little ones because they have such short attention spans. But this is not going to prepare the 5 year old for kindergarten. I try to have the older kids join me during center time to do activities that will build their skills but they often just want to play because that is what the 3’s are doing. Also, I struggle with teaching my kiddos with ASD and knowing how much to push them and how much to respect their neurodivergence by honoring how they feel about certain activities. If they are having meltdowns when it is time for circle time, should I just let them do what they want instead? If behavior is communication, and their protests are showing me they don’t want to do something, what is the right way to handle this?
Has anyone out there done away with whole group instruction and moved to totally play- based where you set up
Play based experiences and teach by joining in their play rather than trying to get the kids to sit and listen to a story or play a group game? What does that look like? How effective is it?
I have one class para and one para who serves as a 2:1 for two of my kids who are in my class 1/2 day and then go to a sub-separate for the other 1/2 of the day.
Me too! I definitely need more help.
