Risk or audit will not hit 200 until year 4 or above.
If you are a top performer, you can be at spitting distance from 200k as a sm1
It’s common for a 3rd year SM at the large markets like Bayarea and NYC. True for both Audit and Tax. Specialist tax group like M&A, international tax should be more. Some non big 4 firms offer that at Bayarea but the cost of living is also much higher
Not even SM 5 or 6 make close to 200k in non-FSO audit, even high COL location
Aiming to hit 200k by SM2. So, checking if i am day dreaming...
Advisory PI you can get there as SM 2-3. For Risk Assurance, Internal Audit and Assurance it could take up to SM 4-6.
In tax in NYC, SMs typically are generally in a 135-235k band. Depends on what you started at, whether you lateralled into the Firm and negotiated a good bump, etc. So put in the time and be patient. You definitely can hit $200 as a SM.
I don’t think that is an option for senior managers in Audit, Risk Tax non-speciality groups. Outside of maybe NY, SF or maybe Chicago, heard the cap is around 190. At that point they will either ‘friend of the firm’ you or promote you. I would love to be wrong here though...
Strategy will get you there as first year SM
