It all depends on how flexible your employer is, how structured you can make your new hours and how much you want to push it.
If you want a 7-3 or a 10-6, I think most employers would be fine with that. If you’re asking for hours outside of those, be prepared for push back. If you want an erratic schedule, that will be more likely to be shot down.
Most people here work 8-5. I set my hours for 9-6. On days I leave earlier or come in later, I put an “out of office” notice on my calendar for awareness and at previous places, I checked in to make sure that was ok. I don’t need to here as it’s the norm to flex your hours as long as you make it for meetings, hit your hours targets, and deliver timely work product.
I’d come up with a plan for my schedule, be ready with a pitch about how you will be just a flexible as your employer when it comes to making meetings that are needed and keeping deliverables timely and how this will keep you fresh for work. Everything should center on all positives for them and trying to cut off any negatives they might think of.
