McKinsey & Company How likely is McKinsey to rescind an offer if there's a recession/downturn before my start date? Received an Associate offer with a start date early in the Fall. But I'm worried about the offer being rescinded due to the ongoing McK scandals/issues and a potential recession in the making (which may prompt them to freeze hiring and/or renege offers).
Has this happened to anyone before at McKinsey, offer getting rescinded due to economic/company downturn? A bit worried

If you’re white like me it’s so important to realize that we were raised in a society where institutionalized racism is normalized, and we were born with privilege. You can’t choose the color of your skin, but you can choose to put ego aside and reflect on why this isn’t happening to me, and be vocal about being anti-racist.

Share what you do know and be honest about what you don’t. I bet juniors will find it refreshing to talk to a humble CD for once. You don’t need to prepare a speech. Just answer their questions best you can.

Take an “all the secret sauce stuff I wish I’d known at your level” approach and you’ll fly through it.
Think about all the crap you had to fight to get clarity on, learn, procedures that weren’t documented but should have been, politics you had to learn the hard way. All of that insight could be really empowering to a junior
I felt this big time when I first started volunteering for student/junior stuff. Honestly, doing it makes you realize that you actually do have a lot to give.
Humility and perspective, regardless of tenure are valuable. I used to teach and was relatively young and the students were fascinated by my perspective on the business because I was just closer to their age then many of the older professors so could better link their experience to mine. I’m sure there are parallels for you.
As a mentor, you can offer
Empathy - I know that can be tough
Vulnerability - I too have struggled with that
Motivation - you can do this
Tough Love - you’ve got to do this
Practical - here’s how the timesheets works
Support/Advocacy - I can talk to someone about that
Just start off by being human, having a helper mindset, and things will fall into place surprisingly well.
You have lots to offer! Learnings from your own personal journey to get where you are now. Especially given how quickly you’ve advanced.
Be a good listener/advocate/encourager. Remember that you don’t have to have THE answers or solutions—just approaches and personal perspectives. Let them unfold. Lead them to the right questions. Be open to surprising yourself—-you probably know more than you think you do.
I’ve learned more through seeing graciousness and healthy leadership modeled vs any formal advice I’ve been given.
Looking back at the people that influenced me the most… that definitely were not the egocentric, bragging arrogant creatives but it were the people who were humble, friendly and human.
