How do you go from Big 4 to MBB or FAANG (MAMA?)?

Currently 1 YOE tech consulting at Deloitte looking to make a hop to more strategy type roles and came across the strategy analyst development program- 1. is this only for fresh undergrads from specific schools or would I be able to apply? 2. What’s the compensation at this level? (worried I might have to take a pay cut). Also would appreciate any remarks regarding the program in general. Thanks!

I work in the mortgage department assisting w mortgage changes , payments etc. I’ve been thinking about becoming a claims adjuster most likely for property damage . Is it worth it ??? I hear a lot of talk about how claims adjusting is a lot of work and very demanding but I think my current position has prepared me for the challenge. I’m an auditor who recently made the switch to advisory. When I was in audit, I could predict my schedule. I knew when I’d be busy (i.e. during busy season or interim) so I didn’t make plans during those weeks or those weekends. In advisory, my schedule has become less predictable. Twice now, I’ve been told about last minute deadlines that have forced me to work over a weekend and late into the evenings, interfering with prior plans I had made. Is this normal in advisory?

The big four conspire to pay CPAs far less than we are worth. Partners are paid millions and you’re only making $75k. You should have been starting at twice that.

I’ve seen a lot of recruiters recently trying to hire for advisory consulting firms that claim they do the work that Big 4 can’t because of independence issues. Does anyone think these types of firms are sustainable or will big 4 find a way around the independence restrictions and take this work back?

I have three years tax experience at a small firm and I am interested in getting audit experience. A recruiter I spoke with suggested a situation where I work tax during tax season, and nfp audits in the summer before tax extension deadlines. Would this reduce my upward mobility, or increase it?
