Transparency is best. They appreciate it because it keeps them from looking like they don’t know their shit to the agencies with which they ha e relationships.
Tell them everywhere You’ve applied.
The recruiter doesn’t get paid for placing you if you’re already in touch with the company directly or have applied and are in their system. So as others have said, transparency is best.
A lot of times they can’t help you at an agency they’re working with if you’ve already applied. They don’t care if you’re applying elsewhere in addition to your work with them.
I’m someone who would reach out to agencies first before going to a recruiter. I had an instance where I moved cities and then was already having conversations with a bunch of agencies. I think the recruiter was a bit pissed...
