Think they did a good job on this piece. It was a truly embarrassing moment for the firm, but I think it’s being handled as well as can be expected. Should go smoothly this year 🤞

Any Tableau SEs able to share some insights?
Hi there. Ex Deloitte Sr Mgr here, currently in tech pre sales (SaaS / MarTech). Recently spoke to both Salesforce and Adobe recruiters for roles that I thought were lateral moves (Sr SA / Sr SC), therefore I did not proceed with the selection process. The recruiters from both companies told me they typically hire at that level, and people are considered for promotion to Principal in 1 to 2 years. I found that odd. Is that right? What’s the typical TC for SAs and SCs there? (15+ yrs exp).
Currently a Solutions Consultant at Pegasystems.
I am interviewing at and considering making a jump to Oracle as a Specialist Solutions Consultant.
The reason for my move is currently at Pega SCs are treated more as AEs or Account Managers. The role at Oracle would be more of a true SC position. I also feel that Oracle will look BETTER on a resume and someone as young as me would have BETTER programs in place to train me and give me the foundation needed to be a successful SC.
Thoughts?

Some people are able to fake it, but I’m a terrible liar. I think it’s important. During demos, you only have about 15-20 minutes to make an impact. If you don’t seem passionate, imagine how boring it would be for someone watching. You don’t have to be the next infomercial star, but you gotta show some passion and present yourself as an intellectually curious person at minimum.
100% this.
I think it’s important for your ability to be convincing, but I can definitely talk about specific products that don’t jazz me too much and I can generally fake it till I make it as long as it seems like the product fixes a pain point for the customer.
I do think that if you don’t love ANY products you’re pushing, it will absolutely sap away your enjoyment of the job.

I’m in FinTech and don’t think it’s particularly important in this industry.
Nobody is really passionate about credit risk or trading compliance (I’ve never heard of a kid growing up saying I want to be a credit risk manager).
FinTech customers also tend to be check the box, numbers people.
Sure, you don’t want to be monotone and robotic, but I don’t think passion is a particularly necessary piece.
