I like working at DLA. Remote work is fully respected. People are all very nice. Are we the best lawyers on earth? No. But are we good at what we do? Also no.

But those franchises have better quality control
Perhaps even more so than most firms, very team/practice group/office dependent, but on the whole a solid group of people in my experience. Some groups more lax than others about in-office time, though the firm’s (seemingly unfollowed) rule is that you’re supposed to be in the office 3 days a week, if that matters
Obviously office- and practice-specific, but there are some maniacal and incompetent seniors in this firm. Like mind-blowingly poor work product, and they often pass the blame to juniors when they’re inevitably held accountable for their shoddy work.
Partners get fired by clients all the time as well, with it being some mixture of horrible clients and horrible management of the work for these clients.
The practice group I’m with is great. Extremely mindful about credibility and setting quality standards within the teams. The work product is well regarded by adjudicators. Results have been exceptionally good.
I’ve been here for a few years. It’s a huge firm so different folks may have had different experiences, but I haven’t had an occasion to hate anything.
