Hypothetically, on the weekends, one could take only part of their dose and save the rest to build up a small emergency stockpile which could be used when they couldn’t get their prescription, since sometimes they have to do what they have to do. Certainly not an official or medical recommendation, and definitely all hypothetical, of course….
Also, depending on the insurance carrier, one can sometimes refill the prescription one or two (or even three) days early.
This adds up.
I rely on Google Calendar to remind me when to ask for a new prescription. (My state prohibits refills on ADHD medication. Makes sense -- it's not like ADHD adversely impacts keeping up with details. It makes so much sense. Ugggh!
New to this, your post got me. I have the issue I only got the meds that I had again after 6 months. Changing med is a roller coaster. The meds I was on came back in to stock and yes I better for it but readjusting. Me and one of my kids so far have ADD or ADHD. The country I live in it expensive we have to go to specialist which is $200 after rebates at least then $100 for each refill minimum.
I have never used it as a crutch and have been upfront since I take my meds during the day. Its not easy, there have been times I have juggle money between be and my kid.
My best advice I can give for doing this over 30 years is best work it out cause if you are better at your job with them.
Anxiety isn’t meds it’s you wanting to do the job at the best you can be. It is stressful, but the lesson I learnt is You know how good you are, but it not easy to show it.
I hope this helps
For cvs if they're out of stock, you can usually ask the pharmacy to let you know which cvs has it in stock nearby.
Not medicated as they won’t prescribe without cardiology sign off as have high blood pressure. So staying with self medication with caffeine about 6 espresso on a morning
I only take my meds on days I really need to be able to focus for extended periods of time. It stretches my 30 day Rx out to months between refills.
My doctors (yes, multiple!) have recommended I only take the meds as needed for my symptoms. I'm pretty high functioning when I use behavioral techniques like pomodoro timers and time boxing tasks, working from home for focus intensive tasks or when I need a low distraction environment. The meds are supportive when I need to be in a client workshop all day, or in the office chaos.

My provider transitioned me to 3 month supplies which has been a lifesaver. I request a refill maybe 2-3 weeks before I run out and haven’t had any issues.
