This is the case 99% of the time with projects like these. Anything that has award potential will be assigned to mostly white men.
The other side of the coin is, I’m personally more concerned with the end than the means. ie It’s more important for this message & this initiative to be out there at all than deconstructing HOW it got out there..but yes I 100% agree that we’re all sick and tired of “baby steps” momentum & it would’ve been much more fitting & indicative of even slight “progress” had POC worked on the actual deliverable. Do you know for a fact that everyone in that credits list is white?

You’re more likely to see BIPOC creatives put on the brands that keep the lights on.
This is so right and always the case.
And the agencies still wonder why their bipoc leave.
Do better.
Yup ☝️️. And they'd have to have enough BIPOC working there in the first place.
OP did they say something tone deaf or did they share human stories in a beautiful way from marginalized voices? Are they doing harm or good with the action behind the ad? They used a young black director and told a really nice story. Did you actually put all those names into LinkedIn to see how many were white? Does every good deed have to be held up to an impossible standard of moral purity? Call Droga out for not having enough black people in their creative dept, but can we not find grievances with every single thing we each do?
Stop it. If you paid any attention, you'd realize one of the biggest issues with advertising is that they co-opt Black culture and content and don't have actual Black people working on these projects.
It speaks to the overall intention of a shop when they dish out work aimed at minorities but have no minorities on the team. We only speak to it when it blows up (tbwa and barnes & noble) but it's definitely a thing to be called out.
Theres at least 1 Black person listed on the project. (The brand strategist).
I think it’s the suspicion that OP guessed the races of the entire team—all white?—to make a point about non-inclusion.
Agencies are just tone deaf period; Two years ago we pitched the MET, The brief was about driving New Yorkers that usually don’t go to the museum to visit during the weekends, Who was in the room? Our newly minted and just transplanted from overseas English CSO and all other white senior peeps. Feedback from the MET? The person presenting strategy has never lived in the city and nobody in the room looks like the audience we are trying to bring to the museum. GO FIGURE!
A CSO was British? NO WAY!!
🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾
Time to take this piece of biz y’all
