Guys , whoever is interviewing and planning to join , do ask project availablity on priority basis before you take decision. On Java front looks like there is some project issue due to recent slowdown in market. My offer was not revised even after agreement with recruiter because of this.

lol I make 80k and own a condo in the galleria so that’s on you
October 2022! Ours is $320 a month (includes water, cable, pool, landscaping, trash and all maintenance / insurance to the outside of the home
I’m in a serious relationship, and he is also married to his 3,000 sq ft home in Kingwood with a huge yard.
That’s very different than your post, which states you don’t make enough money to live in the galleria area
Not a great market, but you could look for something new eventually
You could also get a small place in the city, especially if you could do three days in a row at the office
You make enough to live in the galleria area, and certainly closer than a 60-75 minute commute - that’s just soul crushing. There are plenty of options between the Galleria and Kingwood.
I’m 10 minutes from my office, 15 maybe up to 20 with really bad traffic.
And that’s why I lived in some crummy places inside the loop, with a roommate, until I could afford something decent with a yard. I understand the appeal of the suburbs, but it’s worth it to me to give up square footage and the amenities not to spend an hour commuting each way.
It is easily enough money to live in the galleria, however, working in an office personally makes me miserable, as does being in the car for longer than 15 minutes.
Do you live alone?
I commute once a week to galleria, which takes me about 20 minutes each way.
You van find $1.6k a month apartments in or near the galleria. That should easily be in your budget given the salary
I didn't say I would live there haha
I live 30 miles out and commute to the galleria 3 days a week. See if you can go in early or late and avoid peak times? It REALLY helps me.
Not trying to be mean but I’ve got several staff with similar stories that complain constantly about having to come in 3 days a week. It honestly infuriates me because they knew that when they took the job (yet decided to live, or move, far out).
I’m with you/your significant other though the big house/yard is worth the commute to me and not being squeezed into the city.
It is different, they are still getting the job done from home, not sure why they wouldn’t get paid the same 🤷♀️
Personal opinion here, but it’s a ridiculous requirement to be in the office unless there’s a specific team meeting or conference, and Covid proved that productivity is equal or better when WFH
If someone is hitting their KPI‘s, and completing their tasks, not sure why they would get a pay cut for not driving in
