How long do firms typically let people stay on payroll after notifying them of being laid off?

I've been an engineer at Facebook for six years and am really contemplating resigning or trying to organize my fellow employees for us to make obviously needed changes specifically around disinformation. What would you do? I don’t care if I get fired.

It seems we are headed into a recession, if we aren’t there already. With that, how do you all feel about changing jobs now? I had been planning to exit this year but am also hesitant to be the new person on a team in a recession if there are layoffs. I am also trying to balance that with over half my comp being in RSUs and AMZN shares tanking lately. From a financial perspective, I can’t decide whether it is riskier to stay or go. Thoughts?

I used to be in consulting but moved over to social impact two years ago. I found out I’m getting laid off EOM due to budget cut and I’m really sad. I really don’t have the motivation to apply for new roles, interview etc when usually I actually love that process. Also my role was well paid for nonprofit sector and looking at other roles in the space makes me realize I’m not going to get close to the same salary again. Considering consulting again but loved this job 1000% more. Advice?

I applied to all three MBB firms via their careers page with no referral. I have my final round with McKinsey, rejected by Boston, and no reply from Bain. Any thoughts on how to verify if I’ve been rejected by Bain even though the portal says it’s still pending for 2 months?
