How many years do I have to be an SDR before I can start thinking of applying to BDR roles? I've been an SDR in my current company for 2.5 years. I want to leave this place asap and have been persistently applying to other places for a BDR or SDR manager role. Am I aiming too high?

I think I may have made a huge mistake today. My skip level director sent out an email about something and asked us for feedback. I sent back a note and provided some. One of the things I said was that our job satisfaction might be improved if we could do more of X kind of work instead of Y kind of work that we do so much of in our group. Older companies do whatever they can to pay you the least amount and get the max work out of you. Except our generation will just leave amid we’re being mistreated, not complain for 35 years making 50k and 0 advancement.

My company blames my generation for not being able to hire everyday. “You guys don’t want to work” coming from some overweight, racist, old coaster. I’ve barely taken any days off this year and pick up “skeleton crew” days any chance I get. I was able to work out a deal with my company before I came because of prior experience luckily, but they offer a terrible base salary and sham of a commission structure to new hires + no remote. Then sit here and can’t figure out why…

So, I have always had jobs where I earned a base salary with the ability to earn commission and bonuses. But I've been told that I'm limiting my earning potential by not taking a commission-only role but this seems risky, especially since the economy is supposed to tank
