How much does a typical industry director make? Was reached out on LinkedIn to interview for director roles, I wonder if they pay > 400k easily? Otherwise, maybe staying as IC is better in tech as I don’t need to manage people.

You won’t make that easily AT ALL. Also, what industry exactly ? Director at a bank , at PE , at pharma ?

There is NOTHING “typical “ about “industry” that may include 1000s of companies

like

IC is the way to go. Managing people is like babysitting.

Depends on industry. Am first year Director in CPG and at $240k base, $60k bonus and $50k LTI in NYC. So for a tenured Director in high margin industry, $400k TC is possible. Not base though.

funny

EM1- Colombian pharma

funny

I would expect most directors to fall around 175-250 base and total comp between 250 and 350. Breaking 400 would be a really great offer. Your only saving grace would be if they grant RSUs.

like

LinkedIn D should be about $300k base, $100k bonus + RSUs in Bay Area.

Hey Fishes,
I had a weird exp. with Wipro. I had my interview for AI/ML role which I cleared. They said, Your next round of the interview will be sched. this upcoming sat. I waited for their call but didn't get any response. I tried to contact the concerned HR but no response.
I sent the mails, No reply.
After that, I got the call that job location has changed, it's Bangalore, Pune. Are you interested.?
I said, I am ok with it. He said, Ok.
Call disconnected. It's been 2 weeks, still waiting.

A PSA to all consultants applying for business development jobs: please figure out what business development means before applying. Hint: it refers to a specific function, and is not, in fact, a catch-all term for all business activities in pharma/biotech.

How hard is it to get an interview for SWE at FAANG outside of on campus recruiting? I’m in GT’s OMSCS program right now, hoping to take advantage of career fairs this fall, but I don’t know if I’ll have enough time to prepare for the technical interviews before then. I’m worried about missing out on the recruiting opportunity and having to resort to applying online/LinkedIn afterwards. Any insights into this?

So I’m planning on leaving my position before school starts, but the application and interview process has been slow. At this point I’m afraid I won’t find a job until late July. Should I let my school now and let them post my job as an anticipated position? I’d hate for them to have to find someone last minute, but I also want to keep that school as a fall back just in case. Unfortunately, it’s a terrible position and there has not been a lot of interest in it in the past.

Wondering what people think about my situation. I’ve been offered a role with a company. The job description didn’t mention college degree as a requirement. On my CV I have a section listed as “Education” and under it I have “Business Studies” with the university name and the 3 years that I attended the course (2.5 to be exact). It’s a 4 year degree and under this I have my High School equivalent with the years I attended there. The education wasn’t mentioned in the interviews. Continued below.

So I’m in industry from big 4, and a colleague with same yoe comes from MBB. High paying tech firm. I think I work harder and produce quality content at speed, but they can hold executive conversations that tend to impress senior stakeholders.

Big 4 produces work horses and MBB produces leaders. Also they could be a work horse too since I don’t have full visibility.

Anyone have similar experiences or do I just suck at executive stakeholder management?
