First and foremost be sure that you'll qualify for the higher comp. Some companies try and keep internal moves lateral wherever possible, and it take bith manager's buy in to support an increase.

It's been my experience at IBM and Microsoft before that.
I've honestly never considered that. It would be all financial for me.
That said, for looking at internal roles, there have been people i would never want to work for so never even considered looking for roles that reported to them
That said, if it's a significant pay increase, you kind of have to right?
If it doesn't work out, it is what it is, but your pay level is higher now and won't go back down
The leader isn’t terrible. I wouldn’t consider it for someone I didn’t gel with to a certain extent. I worry more about work/life balance, the pay bump would be great, but I don’t want to be miserable in my role.
Does the new increase create more opportunity for you? I've had great leaders turn sour and leaders leave quickly, so I put more weight on the money.
This. ☝️ A bad leader can happen at any company, including the one you’re at today. While a great leader is invaluable, a meaningful increase in compensation or a step up in responsibility can have a lasting impact on your career. I’d weigh the long-term opportunity more heavily than the possibility of a leadership change.
