It does sound about normal. I found meal prepping on Sunday saves wanting to go out for food for my house. Saves on groceries with not as much waste. By doing an hour or two of prep on Sunday, saves during the week. Now my oldest does a meal service that delivers food ready to cook and eat. It works for her house. You have to find what works for you.

This bowl probably isn’t representative - I go out to eat 1-2x per week and cook the rest of the time. I sous vide quite a bit too which makes for quick meals during the week

Hmm I probably spend that much time. I meal prep all my meals for Sunday to Thursday morning. Thursday night I’ll cook a big meal or try a new recipe that challenges me. Friday and Saturday are typically date nights and opportunity to try a new restaurant
I plan our weekly meals and buy groceries accordingly on Sunday. I love to cook dinner with my daughter (toddler age) after work, it’s time for us to be together and I really enjoy cooking a good meal for my family. As someone else pointed out, I don’t think everyone feels this way about cooking, which I think is sad!
I usually cook a lot on the weekends and eat leftovers through the week.
I usually do something like this most weeks
Sunday - Big effort meal
Monday - Leftovers or stir fry
Tuesday - Eat out at a restaurant
Wednesday - Something in the slow cooker or the smoker where I don’t need to invest much actual effort beyond some prep work in the morning
Thursday - Leftovers or stir fry
Friday - Take out or like a heat and eat meal from CostCo or Trader Joe’s
Saturday - Soup if I bought a rotisserie at Costco the day before, otherwise grill something if I’m at home, or eat out mid afternoon if I’m feeling lazy
We cook at home more than eating out because eating out has gotten so expensive for unpredictable quality. We've always been good at cooking, though. We don't cook every day--usually make big batches and eat leftovers, often rotating a couple dishes at a time and/or freezing some. There are ways (pressure cooker, slow cooker, sous vide) to reduce the hands -on time spent in the kitchen.
