My landlord asks for a raise every 12 months
Does your company do review cycles? Is the company thriving? Is there huge disparity between you and someone else in the same role?
A year is not long, sorry. I’ve been in a corporate setting long enough to know that’s their POV. But if you have the data to support an increase, you could try. Just know that a lot of places haven’t had increases in a couple years, depending on the industry. Economy is not in a great state.
How often one should look for a raise and how often one can realistically expect a raise are two different things.
We should expect them yearly, if for no other reason than to keep pace with inflation, but if that’s all it is, then it’s not actually a raise. As a freelancer, I force myself to raise my rates once a year, even if it means an uncomfortable conversation with a client.
Unfortunately, on the fulltime side, it’s as SC1 says. The only significant raises you’ll ever get are from job hopping.
Biggest raises I’ve gotten have always been from changing agencies, unfortunately.

Are you at a holding co agency? If so, get your pitch in during the raise cycle. Just know raises typically top out at 5% annually. Though depending on your level of importance you might be able to get them to match another offer.
Best bet to get an income increase is to leave, sadly. Internal raises are not common.
Every year baby 🤑
Ask for a raise whenever you deserve one and are confident you have good options elsewhere.
Talented people don’t need to leave their agency to get big raises.
… So depends how good you are.
Exactly. Seen internal raises that are pretty big.
You can ask. But never say you “need to make more”. They don’t care how much you need. Your only leverage is if they value you more than a hypothetical replacement.
