Never too late for a career change or even a pivot which is what this would be. Having performed tech implementations you know the processes and technology - merry those together with some cost saving initiatives and automation and you have strategy consulting.
Thank you for this input. It's very encouraging.
Have you looked at Olive etc…?
I'm not familiar with Olive. A quick Google search revealed a consulting company and a healthcare AI company. Can I assume that you were referring to the latter? Do you know anything special about them besides what's on their website?
How did you end up at Booz? Why do you want to move over to MBB?
That’s interesting. I had a bias that maybe the Caribbean med school route didn’t work out and you ended up in QA testing via one of those scammy training centers that makes up a resume and that’s how you broke into implementation.
To your original question: yes it is doable but tough. Most experienced hires into MBB are at the 4-7 year mark in their careers. Your age will be tough on a personal level because you will have to keep up with your younger colleagues. First step is to create a resume that works for MBB and apply. Then start prepping for the interview. Each company does things slightly differently. Each company also has different timelines so the process will take a while. When I interviewed with BCG they interviewed all the experienced hires at once in the fall for a spring start date while McKinsey had me do an online test and then started the process.
You mention you went to business school. Which one? What degree? That could be a way in as well.
Your credentials lends themselves nicely to some sort of specialist role. I would search for those.
