Offers from both FAANG and PE (special situations), early stage VC. It all depends on the skillset you're building through project work and the impression you make working with clients. And network, network, network!

like

What level are you at and are you aligned to any practice?

FAANG is quite large. It’s like asking if you can jump from OW to [generic F100].

PE is possible, but unlikely.

like

…unlikely on average for everyone at OW. Considerably more likely for people in PCAP. Probable for strong performers in PCAP who want to.

like

I've got verbal offers from 2 PE firms this year alone - but truth be told I have a HF background so dunno how this plays out.

My buddy (not the company buddy) moved a month ago to one. I don't think he had any background on IB/PE/HF

like

Both are definitely possible. Depends a lot on your background / work experience

like

Both are realistic with the right positioning and experience.

like

If you’re pre-MBA, you can make the jump from OW to PE after only about a year of DD reps in the PE group. I worked there and I saw people leave to a HF, PE funds as well as FAANG and some Bay Area unicorns.

How do people’s lives and WLB change after such moves? Any anecdotes, experiences?

Portco life is fantastic. Very focused on growth and tangible results, pace and work hours are somewhere between F500 and consulting.

For startup founders/people with a successful side project: How did you get the idea/inspiration for your business? I’m currently working at a Series B startup and my end goal has always been to found my own startup, but I graduated from college 2.5 years ago and I still have not had any great ideas cross my mind. I do spend a fair amount of time brainstorming. I don’t want to continue working here forever, but I’m struggling to generate that “this is it” idea to build a company for. Any advice?

Team just applied for a TS Clearance (defense agency). Trying to assess if it makes sense to wait till the clearance comes through (6 months to a year?) before I job hop. I'm hoping to get some clarity on the following:
1. Can my company withdraw or cancel my clearance if I leave right after I secure a TS?
2. In terms of compensation, how much value (% compensation) does a TS clearance have in the DC area? Places I'm considering: AWS, Azure, GCP, Data bricks, Appian etc.
Any advice, thanks!
