Don't talk to them. Divert by making "girl talk" with the women. If your just talking to these guys to entertain yourself momentarily but burning bridges in the meantime, you aren't gaining a lot anyway.
You do you. Their relationship and personal insecurities are not your concern or problem to solve. Coming from a hetero lady who watched her girlfriend get torn apart and called a homewrecker by our circle of "friends" because she dated a married guy whose divorce wasn't final yet, meanwhile ZERO criticism was sent at the guy who actually had fucking vows on the line!
Bring your own SO out. If you don't have one, find one on FB.
Talk to the women?
Shut it down. It's not hard to not flirt back.
I can't even with you A1
I promise this is not a humblebrag and is affecting my relationship with my girlfriends. I am not extraordinarily beautiful so I know it's not that. Nor are the men douchebags. We just end up having good conversations
OP, how you doin'? (If you're looking for an SO on Fishbowl)
So the only solution if you're single and intend to stay that way is to shut your personality down? What a sad world we live in.
A1, do you realize how ridiculous you sound? No, I'm not trying to combat anything! I'm trying to figure out a way to not alienate women when their SO's choose to have perfectly normal conversations with me that THEY initiate and that THEY keep going.
Well, being a wall-flower causes me to listen to my friends a lot more. And by listening, I learned that I had been misunderstanding and miscommunicating with them for a long time.
And I'm telling you how. You cannot control anyone else but yourself. You seem to want to be told that these women are just insecure but bitches and you can ignores them and go on being your cool-girl entertaining self to their clearly self-centered clueless and rude SO's. Well your not. Check yourself.
OP, I get this as a man and I know what you mean. It often ends up with jealous looking boyfriends/husbands. I usually will go out of my way to make convo with the guy first, somewhat alienating/coming off as a dick to the woman... it's not ideal (especially if there's not much there in terms of convo with the guy), but you don't want a rep as the person significant others can't be left alone with (whether justified or not)
PwC 1 - who says I'm flirting back? I keep things civil and have immense respect for relationships. It just so happens that the guys end up talking to me a lot more than anybody else and I try my best to get the whole group engaged. I want to understand if there is more I could be doing so the girls don't feel alienated or uncomfortable
I'm a guy, have very similar problems / scenarios with my friend groups. This has led me to experiment with my presence, like purposefully being more of a wall-flower.
Lotta blame in this thread.
Are you trying to combat being single by talking up someone else's SO? Then yes.
Especially after I said that I engage everyone in the group
Sounds like you are an interesting person, who has intriguing convos. That's too rare a feat in this world to suppress. I say keep on keeping on girl. Or we can talk.
Make more eye contact with the women, and ask them questions to bring them into the conversation.
