Hypothetical question: would a big agency ever stoop so low as to make remote (and hybrid) employees fly in for an in-person meeting under false pretenses, just to fire them? Or am I being paranoid...?

I used to be a happy guy, then over the past 5 years of being in public accounting I’ve gradually turned super cynical and hopeless. WFH has definitely added fuel to the fire because I’m super outgoing and vibe off of others. I’ve been actively looking for a new role but nothing good has come up for 6ish months. Any tips on how to get through the rest of busy season? I’m really struggling... to the point of almost crying daily. I told my manager and the firm doesn’t give AF apparently.

Just realized I hadn’t had an in-person interview since 2019. I’ve done multiple zoom interviews and was onboarded remote in 2020. About to see a real person today! Wish me luck.

What do you think is a a fair pay for a renewals specialist?

How do you determine whether your inability to get out of bed in the mornings is due to depression or mere avoidance of all the crushing work and stress that awaits you? Joining a big firm next week as fully remote lateral and flying out to home office for orientation. The schedule has me in office until 4:15. I’ve already been told I won’t have any actual work. Depending on how many people are there and how it feels, I was planning to stay an hour extra but should I hang around the office until later? First time visiting this city so it’d be great to take in some sights too (although that’s not a priority of course).
