I am 46, spouse 44. We make 700k/yr total salary. 2 kids, one off to college and one in 9th grade. I have investments that will take care of college. Here’s my NW: 4.5M - primary home: 1M/paid, 2 investment homes: total 800K/paid and generate 6K cash/month, stocks/bonds/cash: 1M, 401k/Roth: 1.25M, corpus for kids’ college: 500K (not included in NW). I ‘feel’ like I can retire now; and wife after few years (her salary is 300K) but it is very hard letting go to a steady pay check.

I would recommend against retiring while your wife is working. That can cause a lot of strain in a marriage. Just retire together. :)

What are your total annual expenditures? Are you including everything (healthcare, taxes, home maintenance, infrequent expenditures)?

Have you considered selling the rentals to augment your portfolio? It would probably allow about the same withdrawals with reduced risk.

How much are you saving every year? How long would it take you to add some extra safety? How do you feel about your job?

YMMV. I work full time, my husband retired two years ago. We both love the arrangement. I’m not ready to be done working; he was. I still like my job; he didn’t. Now I can delegate errands and tasks to him, freeing up more of my evenings and weekends for fun stuff. His retirement was a quality of life improvement for both of us.

I'm sorry but this has to be a BS post. There's NO WAY a couple with this much income could be so financially inept to come here and ask the question. That is unless they want to get their rocks off reading the responses!

Is the pay check, or is it the desire for bigger and better things? How you thought of a catastrophic accident or illness. Do you think you will be happier retired or working, the grass always looks greener on the other side. You seem financially intelligent, but life can throw some nasty curve balls. Analyze on paper the what if's the good and bad as far as your finances go. Stocks go up and down, bonds don't always pay out. As someone almost 20 yrs older than you, I made all the correct savings and investing due to a car accident I did not cause, hit all my investments and savings. As with the stock market, how much are you willing to take? Best of luck for you and your family.

It might be time to finally retire and see the world. I know giving up a steady paycheck can be tough, but sometimes you have to let go of one thing to make room for better experiences. Enjoy the freedom, travel, explore, and make the most of the time you have now go out and truly experience the world. But with your investing experience, you can still create a steady income while traveling.

If you like your work, stay with it, if not find another career. you have the means to do it right now and do something you enjoy. However home and location can change quickly not a asset, medical care is untouchable for you so cash is king but you can go through that very quickly when the hospital finds out your assets. Maybe put some in an annuities trust, and work part time. One retired and one not retired is stressful and is resentful, I don't care what anyone says so tread carefully to ensure that your both on the same page

Hi, i am looking for Administrative Assistant remote work help me out please

Get a few more rentals maybe a quad or two and you’ll feel better about it

I know you feel like you can retire now but after the adoption papers go through and I am a member of your family, you may have to keep working. LOLOL jk jk jk!
But, congratulations on killing it and stay clocking those dollars for as long as you can.
:)

What you need is an investment vehicle where you can park a portion of those High Net Worth Salaries to avoid paying taxes and at the same time grow that investment at 20-35% each year! Then at close, once you have doubled your investment, return it to your portfolio... Tax Free! Wanna know more?

Only in America. Bravo for the self unaware boast. The orange cockroach criminal in the Dark House and his 3rd trophy wife are richer than you. He has no read a single book. I live on the French Riviera. I swim 1500 yards a day in the Mediterranean sea, sunning on a Russian billionaire's yacht my spouse is the captain of. University here is free. So is medical care. People here live longer than in the US. Gilded cages are still cages. Wall Street millions can buy a bigger tombstone. Useless if you were incinerated ( I mean cremated). LOL

You are a bit young to retire. Is your house paid off? if not, then pay it off. Buy another rental home, that passive income will come in handy when you do retire. Unless you have plans for things to keep busy you will end up bored. Perhaps you could find a passion for something you could pour yourself into and earn money at? You're young! Live it up!

UK market is open only for niche skillsets ( Data engineer + analytics). Firms aren't interested in sponsoring rest all skill sets, as they can be filled internally. They have limited quota every year, and are very choosy when it comes to allocation. Preference is first given to EU nationals and then Asians during shortlist stage.

Referral works, but the person who is referring you should have enough clout in the organization to present your profile!

I’m having a lot of trouble getting used to how unstructured the startup is. It feels like hire ups give a set of instructions then talk as if they don’t remember, or then decided rules A, B, C and D applies without being clear this was the case. Is this just the general startup environment? If you experienced this before, how did you deal with It?
