I am a consultant at BAH with 2 years of experience, a Master's degree and a Secret Clearance. My Salary is less than 60k. Is that pitiful or is it just me?

Yes even at Deloitte our fresh out of college with no experience starting pay is higher than that!

BAH7 my understanding is 75k

Yeah that’s low if in a T1/T2 city

BAH3 true, you are 100% right about that

like

Was same situation at BAH, except 62k with same credentials but zero experience. Jumped after less than a year and got a 30% salary increase at D

like

I was offered $70k out of undergrad back in 2013

like

Jump.

like

Jump n land somewhere solid.. that's lowww

like

I dont think it's bad at all. It all depends on the type of work you do, location, and what the market is like for your skillset.

I do find that booz was underpaying me though. I was a sr consultant (came in with masters degree) with 2 years experience and a secret clearance getting paid 70k.

likefunny

I used to work at Booz Allen and that’s too low. I made more than that right out of college at Booz Allen. You should look up your position on glassdoor to get a feel for the range

like

Guidehouse is paying 2nd years 74k. You can prob ask for 85.

like

It's pitiful - They're fleecing you and they know it. I'll bet $100 your salary is flagged on workday for your CM and SA to see and they have never mentioned it. It's because they staff you with a high labor category and make a huge margin off you by paying you peanuts. Next time anyone at the firm asks you to change the internships on ur resume to make it seem like you have more full time experiance to push you past the client. You know what to tell them.

like

Sounds good - Let me know if you need more advice or potentially a referral to an alternate team. Will do my best to help as I was in a similar situation but I was fortunate my Admin team took care of me.

Run fast and run far. I have an undergrad degree in communications from a basic school and am making a little over 66k at BAH right now (secret clearance, technologist/consultant aka the lowest level) with a couple years of internship experience in defense/aerospace. I got an offer recently for an almost 50% increase on my current salary and I just accepted. A LOT of people I met have left due to being underpaid and undervalued. There’s not even a clear salary range for different levels since I know people in the same account, same experience, same position and management level who make vastly different salaries. Ex: One was a SC data scientist making 67k and one was a SC data scientist making 95k, only difference was their admin team and current task. You can definitely do better and should go somewhere you will be valued/somewhere you can grow your career

like

@BAH9 definitely - it just sucks how heavily your salary and ability to thrive in the firm is tied to sheer luck of the draw for which admin team you’re hired under as opposed to actual skill/tenure/education/talent/contribution etc

You’ll get 90k for the right role at a good company. Deloitte federal would prob low ball u and offer u 70-75. Accenture analysts out of college start at 75k now I believe. At least for their commercial group.

like

AFS is around 77.5 out of college in DC

like

Email HR and let them know you believe you’re underpaid and want them to look into it

like

I started at $60k flat back in 2016 as a fresh graduate out of college. I hope you get what you deserve!

like

Time to negotiate!

like

I made $75k out of undergrad and make $160k as an Associate with 7YOE.

BAH does underpay by a lot, so you have to stick to your guns and be ready to walk at all times.

It’s not a consultancy but rather a public sector staffing firm, you need to extract as much value out of them as they are out of their clients.

like

What? Decks and spreadsheets? Come on man! I can train you.

I was at 56k after being at Booz for 2.5 years (started at 55)... got a TS/SCI w/poly . No masters tho ... moved to a different company and making 120k now. You can get something better elsewhere.

Little context: I was an ED student, full time paralegal/clerk throughout my law school experience, and a single mother. Would it benefit me to take a pay cut as a transactional clerk by about $20k to work as a clerk for a year then re-enter firm life? I’m transactional and enjoy that line of work.

Does it matter if I don’t meet the specific job requirements when transferring H1B? The job posted requires CPA license but I haven’t got it. The employer is still willing to hire me. I know for PERM process, meeting minimum requirements is important but not sure if H1B have such requirement. I heard that for H1B as long as it’s a position requiring bachelors degree and specifically occupation that should be fine. But kinda worried about this.

Hello,

My name is Aaron Silverberg. I am a fish wandering down stream looking for a school to grow with.

I am in search of a full-time job in the digital marketing industry to help build on my entrepreneurial and marketing interests gained from the pop-up pizza shop I started in the summer of 2020 “Sadies.”

I am interested in building a brand, creating a following, growing a community and seeing how that brand maintains its image.

Hope to get in touch and have a nice weekend!
