I spent a lot of time considering if it was worth it. Short answer: No.
Long answer: The CMA certification isn't valued or prestigious, and already having a CPA means you've proven your accounting knowledge (to some degree). Add a B4 background on top of CPA, and you really don't gain much from the CMA.
Very few companies recognize or really care about the CMA and prefer CPA. The main value of the CMA is the material you learn. It is very helpful for cost accounting and FP&A type work. However, you are better served spending that time and money elsewhere (e.g. networking, free/cheap trainings).
My former B4 firm would've paid for my CMA (once I passed), as well as offered a small bonus. But I decided I could use that time to network with other service lines and do other trainings like alteryx, Tableau, excel, financial modeling, etc. Worked out well for me.
I have both and I’d say Cpa>cma. Just got it to help me stand out from all the other CPAs. Can’t say if it’s worth it yet bc I haven’t left but I don’t think you can pass without studying. Exams are basically bec on roids. I used gleim.
Not worth it. FP&A Senior Analyst nailed it. If you are looking to add another certification that would add some value, I would recommend the CFA.
